The Laboratory for Death Studies at USP’s Institute of Psychology was founded in 2000 by Prof. Dr. Maria Julia Kov\u00e1cs and psychologist Nancy Vaiciunas.<\/p>\n

The study of the subject of death has always been important in psychology, especially at a time when the denial of death and the ban on talking about it are very present.<\/p>\n

Among the objectives of the Laboratory for Death Studies are: training health and education professionals who are sensitive to people in situations of loss, mourning and death in the various stages of development; research involving undergraduate and postgraduate students and health and education professionals; stimulating the search for knowledge, reflection and discussion on the themes of death; creating a database with up-to-date bibliography and providing assistance to the community for people in situations of mourning and loss.<\/p>\n
