The selection process is carried out for Master’s, Doctorate (for student holding a Master’s degree by USP or recognized by USP) and Direct Doctorate. For all levels (Master’s, Doctorate and Direct Doctorate), the selection process, after the Language Proficiency Stage, is composed of five eliminatory stages:

(2) Analysis of the Memorial (Detailed Curriculum), considering participation in scientific events, publications, professional and research experience;

(3) Analysis of the Research Project considering its congruence with the research line or intended supervisor, in addition to its scientific relevance;

(4) Written Test of Knowledge on the Field of Clinical Psychology;

In the evaluation of each of the tests (steps) criteria defined by the CCP are used, aiming to promote a rigorous and fair selection process in the selection of students who will be part of the Program. It is part of the educational horizon of the Clinical Psychology Program to carry out the selection based on the profile of students who are in tune with the Program’s mission. The Postgraduate Program in Clinical Psychology intends to train professors-researchers who can join postgraduate programs in the country and in research centers in Brazil and abroad. This means selecting candidates who have paths involved with academic life and with a position investigated in the face of the problems posed by the complexity of human beings for the field of Clinical Psychology.

Each of the steps that make up the selection process seeks to assess an aspect of the student’s profile, as described below:

Proficiency in a Foreign Language: in addition to this test being required by the Graduate Program of the University of São Paulo, the program seeks to assess through it the student’s ability to read bibliographic material of the candidate’s theoretical reference, as well as the candidate’s possibility participate in international conferences and exchanges and internships abroad.

School Transcript, Memorial and Research Project: aims to assess the candidate’s path (professional and academic path, assimilation and allocation of professional and academic experiences, reflection and research focuses arising from the academic and professional path, scientific initiation, participation in groups of research, research carried out, professional experience, organization and participation in events, publications, ability to organize research project properly, among others)

Proof of knowledge and reflection on the field of Clinical Psychology: candidate’s ability to problematize and focus on research themes, possibility of putting research questions into dialogue with the field’s literature, thematization of methodological and epistemological issues, domain of theoretical reference that will support the candidate’s research.

Research Project and Curriculum Argument: seeks to clarify and discuss aspects of the candidate’s path, aiming to investigate its consistency and availability and implication in conducting research and dedicating itself to the graduate program in a manner consistent with the program’s educational horizon; survey of the research project aiming to focus the relevance of the research focus in relation to the candidate’s path, socio-cultural context and the program’s research lines, evaluation of the project’s methodological consistency; real possibility of the candidate being guided in his research project, an aspect that can be evaluated by the candidate’s ability to maintain a reflective dialogue with the examining board.
