Clinical Psychology- Health Psychology: Hospital Psychology, Psycho-oncology. Theorical Referential: Psychoanalysis. Psychosocial factors in the process of becoming ill
My work focuses on the onset and development of the processes of falling ill from cancer and other illnesses. There are several emotional factors which can be identified through these processes, key factors on how one copes with the illness, whether it be the patient, relatives or health staff. Psychoneurology has been noticing through various experimental studies that there is a correlation between emotions and illnesses, between emotional states and changes in the organism. We are aware of the importance of the immune system to one’s health in general, particularly with neoplasias. My work also encompasses the psychologist’s activities within the health institutions and aims at providing the necessary professional qualification in order to perform such activities.

Despite it being impossible to constantly employ psychoanalytic techniques, it is possible to develop psychoanalytic-based listening skills. This allows a deeper and broader understanding of the clinical facts. Having carried out and published research with a focus on candidate patients for Bone Marrow Transplant, I continuously develop research on the set of beliefs surrounding cancer, as well as on the sexuality aspects of cancer patients. My publications also branch into the clinical psychology treatment provided to terminal patients with a focus on: the psychologist himself, the patient, family members and health staff.
